Why does love hurt? Because when we 'love' someone, we let ourselves be vulnerable to them. The nature of 'love' is to allow ourselves to be hurt. You can't have one without the other, if a person can't hurt you, you haven't connected on a deep enough level to 'love' them. And it goes beyond sexual 'love' too, if a random stranger told me my face was stupid I would laugh, if a close friend or immediate family told me the same thing I would consider their opinion.
The more you 'connect' with a person, the more you are opening yourself up to them, which allows them to hurt you. |
