my pastor has 2 full sleeves and is workin on both legs now, i am also being raised up in ministry and i get the "is it biblical to have tattoos?" question all the time. the best way i can tell them is when Jesus comes back he has markings on his thigh that says king of kings and lord of lords. the way the Spirit has moved me and alot of people i know is that it is a tattoo "or form which there of" also if they bring the levitical law into it we are not bound by that law anymore, Jesus died to fulfill the law. well yeah haha thats about all i got on tattoos being biblical or not check out my blogs if you want to i think some might like em. god bless

my fiance's dad is the pastor of our church..

he just recently got ordained.

he said even though there is much controversy on the topic..tattoos are biblically acceptable. there is nothing in the NT about tattoos being bad, wrong,or sinful as long as your not doing it out of fellowship, anger,or your getting something unbiblical tattooed on you.

now if your jewish in the other hand and have ink.. well , then you have a problem :)

I think that the biggest thing you can do in any online community as a Christian is to participate as much as possible in OTHER threads.

The first thing I did here was join the Witchy People group and the atheist group so that if I get the chance to do His work there I'm able.

Doing things on the digital Chrstian space here is cool and all but it's a bit like serving your potluck dish to your familly first at a picnic. They'll get it at home- heck, they even have the recipe. It's these other folks at the picnic who we have to reach.

Join as many groups here as you can and come back here if you need to be sharpened or recharged- it can be pretty rough out there.

Grace and Peace,

SJ in Austin

We all know that most churches (at least down here in the southern u.s) either explicitly or implicitly don't approve of tattooing. Much of this has to do with Levitical Law.

So what's your take on it?

Here's the bits in Leviticus that usually gets thrown into the idea pit from the KJV at www.blueletterbible.org :

Lev 19:28 Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I [am] the LORD.
[Select for Copy; Double click to (de-)select all] Lev 21:5 They shall not make baldness upon their head, neither shall they shave off the corner of their beard, nor make any cuttings in their flesh.

If you really want to make a difference if need to show what we really stand for. The Bible says that what is in out heart will come out. I have seen a lot of people.... including friends say that they believe but nothing they say or do shows Christ. if you want to make a difference then start with a real over-haul in yourself.

I love this site. It is awesome. The one thing that really bothers me is......
On your profile you have to choose "other" if you are a christen. I don't understand why that is not an option in the first place.
But... you cant get rid of the astrological sign.
I don't understand........
I don't even believe in the astrological crap.

Hey just a message to break the ice and all. How is everybody? I hope that the Savior is shining on you all today! I would love to get to know some of you in this thing that is supposed to be a community! Let me know what is on your hearts, in your minds, and moves your soul! It would be cool if we could start communicating some prayer request and the like? What do you think? We can all be a light in this place, and it will be easier if we all are shining together! Can we become a community that longs to love the people on this sight as Jesus Does? Can we make something that will have the impact of organizations like the Christian Motorcycle Association? What if we could be to the tattoo community what that is to the motorcycle community? Any idea? Comments? Vision?

In Christ Alone,

Steven Dahl

posted: Wed Jun 27, 2007 08:53

It seems that anyone can label themselves Christians today .A term we throw around so easily. In fact there are people in this group that don't understand the price that was paid for their souls!!!I look at and read their profiles and their life is contrary to the word of God.Don't misunderstand me I am a sinner saved by grace.I fall but I get back up.My walk may be wobbly at times but my faith is very real!!! I don't judge these people but we are called to examine fruit. We are called by God to live a repentant life that means if I continue to live in sin than judgement will eventually come.Too much was paid at calvary's cross for us to walk away and not surrender to Jesus Christ.I challenge those in this group to convey these truths to your friends in a loving way but a direct way.I would say most in inknation are lost and you may be their only light.God Bless, Thankful heart

We need to feed those God has entrusted us with, as well as equip them to do the good work of the Gospel.

FEED!
"The third time he said to him, “Simon son of John, do you love me?” Peter was hurt because Jesus asked him the third time, “Do you love me?” He said, “Lord, you know all things; you know that I love you.” Jesus said, “Feed my sheep." John 21:17

EQUIP TO FEED OTHERS!
"Now may the God of peace who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, the great shepherd of the sheep, by the blood of the eternal covenant, 21 equip you with everything good that you may do his will, working in us that which is pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen". Hebrews 13:21

It sounds like an awsome church though! Where are you out of again?

I second your thought I Pastor a "church" but its not a place to get fed but a place of community where we share and celebrate the lives of one another and truly partake in each others lives... we are working to restore 1st century church mentality and its taking place all over the globe more relationship less religion

our service was very emotional this morning. Our church bought a mall area a few years ago and we shredded the mortgage this morning with a brush shredder in the auditorium.
Along with that we had baptism.
I'm glad you bring this subject up because I for one am probably a horrible example of what a Christian should act like. I might be a great example of God's grace because HE chooses to pour that on me every day. I swear too along with beating people up with my words, anger, hate, (everything Christ is not) and then have the nerve to wear a cross around my neck and proclaim to be a Christian!

Our pastor said something interesting this morning. He said (quote)Sir Elton John had said there should be a law against all organized religion and maybe he is right. If all it is about is organized religion than basically it's just that. It's about representing and a changing of lives for eternity. (end quote) I'm sure I didn't type that right...you had to be there.

anyhow just random babblings. Now how to do the line of work I'm in and still be representing Christ is something I'm going to have to work on. I'm thinking maybe I don't need the job and need to free up my time again for bible studies and such!

Thanks for the topic John! One we must be reminded of daily!

Lisa

i got up this morning at 6;00 and couldnt go back to sleep so i grabed my bible and opened it to james.at the end of chapter 1 i read something that really got me. if anyone considers himself religious and yet does not keep a tight rien on his tongue he deceives himself and his religion is worthless.wow worthless, that got me .we are all representing the one we are following, and people are watching.....this one is really hard for me i cuss like a sailor- i pray for awarness of what im gonna say before i say it......time to get on the ball.......worthless......wow god bless john

I was asked today by my artists to take their names and artwork off of the inkednation site as well as the home site, as they were "offended" by my blog on Leviticus and tattoos, and also that I advertise that I am a Christian shop owner! They say I do not speak for them and I am a religious fanatic?
And these guys were my friends? I am selling the shop to pusue ministry, but I never beat them up with preaching to them or treated them any differently. I guess I expected this kind of reaction from some people, but I never did from my friends. What makes me different, after all, than the apostles? I mean they were ridiculed for their faith in Jesus as well and called all kinds of things. I would have thought they could wish me the best. I guess their "gumption" is finally out now that ownership is changing! The sad thing is...if I had portrayed my shop as evil (like Paul Booth), with dark images and doctrine full of sexual immorality and promiscuity and the basic outlaw biker thing,...not one of them would have complained. Am I nuts, or does this make sense to anybody? I guess I can't let what they think of me deter my convictions and I will certainly not apologize for my faith in the Lord. They are free to believe what they want.....but it still never changes the truth.
God Bless,
Lyle
