my tattoo artist has been doing permanent make up for a few years he uses his machine, just turns the power WAY down. There is a different ink make just for make up, but he did use black ink once because the lady wanted it. |

For those out there who are interested in different forms of tattoo aftercare, these guys are worth checking out.

I swear by it. Keeps scabbing down, keeps the colour in and smells nice too. Check out the site and see for yourself. They will do wholesale for studios and I knock mine out at £3.00 a pot when I don't give it away as part of the service and still make a mark up. Ask for Jim and tell him Pete from Tattoo Carnival sent you! It'll do his head in! haha!
The best bit? It's all organic. No petroleum or lanolin and it's the first aftercare company to be approved by the Humane Cosmetics Standard. Launched in 1998, The Humane Cosmetics Standard (the Standard) is the only internationally recognised scheme that enables consumers to easily identify and purchase cosmetic and toiletry products that have not been tested on animals. Marvellous.

Hi. I'm looking for some input on semi-permanent cosmetics. Now as it is I am fully trained in it's application namely, eyebrows, lip liner, full lip colour and eye liner. That is not the issue. I can already do this. Most other cosmetic "tattooists" (There is no such thing. You're either a Tattoo Artist or you want to be. There is no grey area here.) carry out their trade using machines varying from a glorified giant marker looking gadget that apparently breaks down regularly or the good old fashioned twin coil tattoo machine. Personally I feel that my method is the better as I carry out the procedure by hand. It's more gentle, less traumatic for the skin, less likely to cause infection (most important) and a damned sight better result as I can tattoo follicle by follicle in the case of eyeliner and eyebrows. My main question is thiis - who would prefer a machine firing at many strokes per minutes running along next to their eyeball and who would prefer the hand method? Sure the hand method is slower buit their is no such thing a a good fast tattoo. Fast means fuck up in my book. All reponses are most welcome. I understand this method is popular in the States but the UK is still very much in the post-war years as far as this subject is concerned. Regards Peter Jamieson-Sinclair aka Pete Tattoo |

I've been thinking about getting a tattoo on my face. I'm thinking about a tiny little star on my cheek bone, close to my temple. I'm not 100% sure tho and everyone seems to think it's a bad idea.. I thought a little red star would be cute, but I don't want people to think it;s a pimple! Or maybe just a black out line w/o color. I'm really not sure..... Maybe that's a sign!? Any thoughts????? |

I'm Kristin. I've been getting tattooed for about 4 years. I have pretty much my whole back outlined... I'm just waiting on color now. My husband is apprenticing right now so if it doesn't get finished by the time he's ready then he can finish it for me. I do freelance makeup as a side job. I'm planning on going to school for it... hopefully i'll get to go to MUD in the next few years but I really dont want to move to NYC but I've always wanted to go there to get professional training so I can do makeup for print, runway, but I'd really like to get into the special effects areas of makeup and/or do makeup for movies and theater. And not like doing movie stars makeup to make them look pretty... I want to turn people into monsters and elves and such. But anyway makeup is my passion. I have posted most of my the eyes from my portfolio stuff here... http://www.myspace.com/breakzjunki in my interests section. I only have the eyes up there for the most part because full faces took up too much space. |

Guess I'll get this started...I've been a tattoo artist for almost 4 years now...I've been a professional portrait artist for about 6. I love realism, black n' gray, and pin-ups. I have 4 tattoos now...One arm sleeve, one half leg sleeve started, another half arm started, and the back of my neck...(I'll add photos soon)...So how bout you? |
