I'm a massage therapist and my boyfriend is thinking about becoming a tattoo artist.
What are the pros and cons of that type of relationship though? For you and your wife, I mean.. having the careers you both do. |

I totally love finding ink on people when they don't seem like the type to do so. It's awesome. I was very shocked to find a tat on my hair dresser. That was crazy.
I'm not sure, what my favorite piece would be. I just like finding them on people, especially when I least expect it. |

Hey Kent;
I am new here on Inked Nation and to this group.
As a martial artist, I learned sports massage during a few seminars given to our team when I was an active competitor in Germany.
The lecturer was a ph.D. in Physical Rehabilitation and chief massage therapist for the German ice hockey national team.
I was always interested in the healing arts, especially massage and nutrition. But I am out of practice, yet my interest is still there.
So... hello from NY to you.

Welcome Rev! Good to know ya! Question: you ever put the dear wife to work pre-ink calming down a potential client? I have heard of a few tat artists who actually hire massage therapists as shop help, makes things a lil more calming..... Pye |

My wife is a massage therapist and I am a Tattoo artist, and it is one of the best pairings of careers I believe. both being bodyworkers, we don't have the usual jealousy and mistrust that we have experienced with other partners. |

Dude,you have no clue!lol! I had a client who was the head of radiology at a local hospital that had Minnie Mouse blowing Mickey on her inner thigh......blew me away!! Bankers, ministers, all kinds of people here are "undercover" ink freaks.

So what has been some of the potent ink you have seen while working?
Some folks billboard their ink, some keep it for themselves... With the vulnerability of the work we do, I have had a couple folks tell me I am one of few who has seen some of their work! As such I'll preserve their anonimity!
One of the most beautiful pieces I have seen was a set of the most gorgeous, intricate, custom wings. It was a huge back piece, but this shy gal, does not show them in public... even in summer.
It is cool to have some private pieces! |
