I freehanded this and tattooed it in one sitting. He's going to Iraq for 11 months and then we're adding a background. I really wanted to alot more like white highlights and more to the eye and beak but, we ran out of time.

Hey Sneker,
I have found that if you use Detol concentrated, not diluted to wipe over the skin for your stencil, and then let it dry. You are then able to draw all around the area with sharpies and they tend to stay on as long as you use a very light amount of vaseline when you begin.

I use sharpies and also I get Skin scribes from Lucky tattoo supply...... seems to work better then Bic pens and small enough to get more detail.... check them out...
Also they sell something similar at WWW.atimemachine.com
they come with a handle....

Nice tip on the rollerballs... I'll give them a shot. The fine line sharpies dry out too fast, surgical scribe markers are garbage and dry out almost immediately, and regular sharpies work ok but bleed out SO thick!

Sharpies are great but, retractable roller ball pens by bic are better for detailed work, They are cheap, disposable, and stay on. Comes in 12-pack red/blue/black. When clogged write on tape or paper to unclogg. I use several when designing so, I will switch pens every few minutes to prevent tips from drying while I design/draw on skin then reuse(same for sharpies). Make sure skin is dry and clean. I've used other brands and rollerballs are the best for me. I stumbled across this by accident a year ago when my sharpie ran out and used a rollerball pen reserved for signing credit cards. Trust me you will have drawer full before you know it.

The one with the eyes looks good. But, the other one should have been done with a stencil.

This is another that I made a stencil for the outline so it would look square and straight lined and then freehanded the symbols with the machine.

Hello,

I thought this might be the right place to post this picture of some recent work I did. I freehanded the image with a new roller tip ink pen in an hour using the pencil drawing as my guide.

Weel I just picked up some Lumocolor 0.6mm finetip permanent marker and wow. I got them at our local hobby art store. But no problems with them not working for a long period of time. Refillable to.

have you tried the ultra fine tipped sharpies for the details? they are a bit hard to kep working on skin but they do have a nice fine line

Thanks but I think I'll stick with the sharpie. Not sure about bic ink or lead pencil. Don't want to contract ink or lead poisoning to anyone. To much at risk

Cool, no I use green soap for the stencils. I wounder if you can lay a stincil and freehand in the same area using the green soap and all? You don't happen to know the name of those japanese mark?

Cool, thanks. They don't wipe off easier than sharpies? And will the ink in the pens stay flowing even when designing a very large piece

I usually use color sharpies to freehand with. Starting lightest being yellow ,orange, or red then on to blue or some sort of dark color not useing black though. Because it to close to black (usually). But does any one use any thing differant. If so what are they and what distributor? I'm looking for some thing that can do more detail than a sharpie for my finishing lines.
