A beautiful face so expressive that the sadness can be felt. an old one who has walked perhaps too long on this earthly plane. One who has seen more than his heart wishes to bear. Eagle flying over the mountains carrying his prayers to his Creator. Representing freedom, future, peace at last. |

The Medicine Wheel represents the phrase "Mitakwe Oaysin" (All My Relations). The circle represents the sacred hoop, the bars signify the four directions and are usually colored accordingly. It is a traditional belief that all existence is related to everything else in existence. The trees are related to the earth, the earth is related to the sky. If a piece of the puzzle is missing, the picture is incomplete. |

My husband's newest piece is an armband around (Yes, completely around ) his upper right arm. He withstood the underside very well, but wants more shading added to the band before color application. The antler button in the center is modeled after a stag horn pipe that was left in his care after the death of his best friend. Each year, on his friend's birthday, he honors the memories they shared by smoking from the pipe. The feathers represent the two friends, bound together by an unending bond, the band. Feathers are also a reminder of the impermanence of this world, of change (shedding, molting, renewing) Life changes all of us. |

Here is one I did a few months ago... the client is from the Turtle Clan (Seneca Nation of Indians) and this is adapted from a drawing his father did of his own turtle. He's also big into LaCrosse so it was a way to combine his heritage with his own personal history ;) |

I live near a reservation so I get a lot of requests for Native American themed tats. I'm near the Seneca Nation of Indians near Irving, NY.
I'm looking forward to learning more about this aspect of tattooing since there are so many myths associated with it and different ways to do them. Here is one I did recently, a member of the Turtle Clan who also was a good La Crosse player so he combined his two passions. |
