Who owns the TATTOO MACHINE design? |
I have been noticing a trend among some tattoo machine builders in the past year or so that is really a waste of time. Alot of people seem to think that they are the inventors of the double coil machine. But it is a basically unchanged piece of equiptment for over 100 years. Barring a few minor changes for the better, it is the same as what our forebearers were using in the 1900's. I have heard of builders accusing their peers of some FUCKING stupid things. From frame design, coil finishes, custom hardware etc. WE ALL BORROW FROM EACH OTHER FROM TIME TO TIME!!! I have built and designed things that I thought were 100% original only to find out that someone else had the same idea 10 years before I did. Two people can have the same idea without one of them being a theif. Or maybe they saw it and later thought it was their idea. I have gotten upset when I would see another machine with similar parts or design to something I built. I no longer feel that my designs are truely my own. Because in reality someone probably did it before I did. If you see something that you feel is similar to yours, take the high road. If they did borrow your design, remember this. IMITATION IS THE TRUEST FORM OF FLATTERY. But don't go around bad mouthing another builder. If their work doesn't stand up, than they won't be around long enough to worry about! Thanks for reading my rant, FAST EDDY |
