Tattoo Removal (& Permanent Hair Removal) Feb |
We have now taken delivery of our two new machines – the laser for tattoo removal and the IPL machine for hair removal and skin blemishes. We’ve had training on both machines last week and I’m pleased to say the results are amazing!
On Friday with did the tattoo removal training with the laser. The tattoo removal is also very quick and we can treat an area 2” x 2” in less than ten minutes. The black removes easiest and the red is removed well too, as well as other dark and reddish colours, like purples and browns. It doesn’t work on pastel colours though, but that’s often not too much of a problem because they’re easier to cover.
Last Tuesday we had training on the IPL machine (Intense Pulsed Light) and we treated for hair removal and thread veins, as well as freckles. The machine is very quick – to treat both lower legs, for example, takes about 20-30 minutes. The sensation varies, mostly feeling like the twang of an elastic band, gentle in some areas and sharper in others, like round the side of my nose where I had tiny red thread veins. It made my eyes water and felt hot afterwards, but nothing I could not handle. Certainly easier than getting a tattoo. The thread veins disappeared immediately, even I was amazed! Hair removal takes several sessions as it only treats your hair which is actively growing, which is about 40% of your hairs at any one time. But to never have to shave my legs again? Sign me up!
Guys also note - we can also treat chests, backs, and all or part of your beard. So if you're sick of having stray neck hairs that give you a rash when you shave, give us a call and we can solve it - permanently!
We also had in-depth training on both machines on the “contra-indications” – reasons why people cannot be treated or things which affect how their treatment should be managed. There is no doubt more involved than with tattooing, but we were thoroughly briefed and given full written documentation, such as in-depth consultation forms and lists of medication which may affect your treatment, so you are in safe hands.
What next? We are currently waiting for the Healthcare Commission so they can assess us and certify us, which takes up to 12 weeks. Hopefully less!
In the meantime we can offer advice on the treatments, with free consultations, but we will be unable to treat anyone until our approval comes through. Watch this space – we will keep you posted!
