Fall Doldrums |
Thank God I'm building machines again. Not a huge profit considering the expenses of starting up all over again, but at least I get to move some money around. That helps a lot. Business in Florida has become seasonal for me once again. I'm not sure it's happening to everybody, but lately I have a habit of aligning myself with shops that are laid back..... which includes a lack of motivation on owners' / coworkers' parts. That's OK, it's a nice environment and it's what I need right now.
I will warn anyone who hasn't been in this business as long as me. This seasonal slow down is ultimately my fault. When I started having serious problems in my marriage and slowing down on work to try and take care of my crap, I stopped setting myself up for the prosperous fall seasons I've had in the past. I knew it was going to snowball, or more, unravel, but I had to make those last ditch efforts to try and save what we'd built over ten years. It wasn't worth saving. Now that I'm almost a year out of it, it's obvious to me now that it was irreparably damaged. I am much happier in life without my wife around. |
