I do all custom tattoos in Spokane Wa and have for thirteen years,
I used to go to a lot of conventions and travel, now I don't travel, but it's ok cause I'm super pleased with our setup, we have an all custom shop with a sweet gallery, (lovin the studio/gallery thang.)
I'm a second generational tattoo artist who works with my mom and is a mom.
I must admit that I'm a bit cynical when it comes to other artists, I find it hard to really connect (so this will count as an attempt to find some peers.)
I am inspired by a wide range of media , books, art film, and people.
total nerd, feminist, subgenius minister, lover of ktiche -but living a simple life for the sake of space and time.
.love to research and find the interconnections in between things.
I have a wonderful son and co habitate with him and his dad where we make art and music and homeschool.

I find it hard to put what I do into words.
The tattoos I make are often referred to as "printmakerly" "detailed" "dynamic"and " realistic"
I usually only do one or two a day and exceed people's expectations ( Is that bragging?)
I LOVE to brag.(laughing)
I made my first one on my dad at the age of four, went to my first convention around age eight in Seattle.
I grew up in a tattoo "shop" surrounded by plants and ditto papaer and the folks that people now call "oldschool." things were a lot different, not better or worse, I'm just grateful to my clients and so thankful for how everything has turned out.
I have always loved the art, the people and the magical process that is tattoo
It has and will fascinate me throughout my entire lifetime.
(I have devoted so much time and effort and feel like I'm only scratching the surface of what it's all about.)
I mostly make big( kick ass) custom pieces for each person while they sit and watch,
I make my stencils by hand, I used to draw things over and over at home at night, now I do it all at the shop with my customer (and I do some freehand too), it's such a good feeling when everything just clicks and flows.
I rarely photograph what i do, there is no way to capture the look of it, and some things are better live and in person.and that way no-one can bite it, (but I will post some pics of my work sometime soon)
I've always really hated the marketing and promoting aspect of the craft (it's all so sexy and cheesy and homogenized), I think my lack of commerialism keeps my clientelle down to earth and interesting.
(on my own body) I've got about thirty six hours of work and am currently stuck halfway through a coverup. (like the plumber with the leaky pipes at home), I have great plans.I looove to be tattooed.(anyway my tattoos are probably the least fascinating thing about me) |
